Our Story

While leafing through his family Bible Murray Williams noticed some yellowed papers between the pages, and stumbled across his families secret prohibition spirit recipes. His grandfather, a tobacco share cropper, supplemented his humble income from the proceeds of his moonshine endeavors.

While sharing this story over drinks with his friend Tim Emerson, it was decided that we should recreate these recipes, and devised a plan to construct a small 6 gallon still.

Surprisingly these spirits were quite good and were praised by friends and family alike, and through some further research it was discovered that the spring on the Emerson farm was the very same spring water used by Murray’s family to craft these spirits.

Mission Statement

Here at Otter Creek Distilling we use pure spring water and prohibition recipes to bring alive the tradition of distilling in this region. We remain as true as we can to these original 6 gallon recipes and use traditional botanicals and flavors to recreate the spirits of this era. Our spirits are small batch and hand crafted for a smooth finish and a taste of history.
